COMMUNITY GROUPS

Spring 2008 Community Groups

Spring 2008 SemesterThe Spring 2008 Semester of Community Groups is now underway! For more information on our impacting Community Groups and how you can get involved, please scroll through our offered Groups below! For all additional information, contact church@goodnewsaog.org.

"Community Groups...Small groups that make a BIG difference!"

5-FOLD BASIS OF COMMUNITY GROUPS:

Think "Life Change." Community Groups are designed to create: (1) a predicatable environment where participants experience authentic community and spiritual growth; (2) an environment where God is active in the lives of its members; and (3) a small group where people change.

Cultivate Relationships.
Relationships are how a sense of community is built and cultivated.

Promote Participation.
Shared participation encourages ownership of the group. Group members are encouraged to participate often in the facilitation and leadership of the group meeting. Leaders are trained to navigate discussion and not only teach curriculum.

Replace Yourself.
Leaders are encouraged to intentionally apprentice someone in their group for future leadership. The apprentice is someone who has the potential to replace a leader, not simply assist them.

Provide Care.
Community Groups are designed to be one of the main, crucial ways we provide care to our members.

Battlefield of the Mind Battlefield of the Mind

Join us as look for answers to these and other topics:

* Where do negative feelings come from?

* How do you focus a wandering mind?

* How can you overcome difficulties?

* What is the most effective weapon against worry and anxiety?

* Why is excessive reasoning dangerous?

* How can you experience the peace of God?

Answer these questions. Embrace their principles in your daily life. And win the battle in your mind!

Group Leaders: Dave and Kathy Gunderson

Update: Group is now complete. Look for a new session coming this fall!

The Book of Revelation Book of Revelation

Revelation is an open book in which God reveals His plans and purposes to His Church. In this book, the Holy Spirit pulls back the curtain and gives us the privilege of seeing Jesus glorified in heaven and the fulfillment of His sovereign purposes in the world. Material presented is gleaned from well-known commentators such as William Barclay, Warren Wiersbe, Chuck Smith, Robert Mounce, and others.

Dinners for 6 Dinners for 6

What a fun way to get to know your fellow Good Newsites! The names of three couples are drawn from the list of interested couples, and each couple takes a turn hosting a dinner at their home. The host couple provides the main course; couple #2 brings a salad; and couple #3 brings a dessert. The second month, couple #2 hosts the dinner providing the main meal and so on. This is a great way to build new friendships within the church! Also, singles may participate by finding another single who would like to co-host with them.

Group Leader: Jeff Carr

Please contact Pastor Ryan for additional information on this group.

Scrapbooking Scrapbooking

Using the book "THIS IS MY STORY: Creating a Scrapbook Legacy of Faith," this group combines Bible study with journaling about the significant experiences that have shaped a woman's life. Your finished product will be a beautiful keepsake that captures important stories to share with the next generation. No scrapping experience is necessary since Sharon, an avid scrapbooker, will be there to teach us!
